The Fine Arts Work Center Fellows

group exhibition

Curator: Christine McCarthy

Provincetown Art Association and Museum

460 Commercial Street

Provincetown, MA 02657

This exhibition includes sculpture, assemblage, painting, printmaking, photography, and multimedia. Spanning figurative, abstract, and conceptual approaches, the artists engage a range of concerns, from the porous boundary between spirituality and fantasy to the intersection of materiality and memory. Collectively, the works examine questions of place and representation—how each shapes and informs the other—as well as the layered histories of liberation and representation embedded within the American landscape.

PAAM is grateful to FAWC Executive Director, Sharon Polli, for her continued partnership, as well as Thierry Kehou and Devin Mathis for their assistance in organizing this exhibition.  Partnerships between visual arts organizations are important because they strengthen artistic ecosystems, expand public access, and create opportunities that no single institution can achieve alone. By pooling resources, expertise, and networks, organizations can support artists more sustainably while reaching broader and more diverse audiences.

Collaborations often lead to richer programming—such as joint exhibitions, publications, residencies, and educational initiatives—that reflect multiple perspectives and disciplines. These partnerships encourage dialogue across institutions, fostering innovation and experimentation while reducing duplication of effort.

Ultimately, partnerships build cultural vitality. They connect artists, institutions, and audiences in meaningful ways, reinforcing the role of visual arts organizations as collaborative stewards of creative exchange rather than isolated entities.
