art fair: PULSE miami, booth N-212
I will have new work on view at PULSE miami in booth N-212, with Von Lintel Gallery. The work, entitled Les règles de l’art, is my largest piece to date at fourteen feet wide.
The drawing is composed from the entire text of Pierre Bourdieu’s book of the same name, copied by hand in the original French.
Among its many themes, the book discusses Bourdieu’s conception of cultural capital and the problem of art being created with an awareness of its own context. The image of a 19th century street-scape is punctuated by an exploding building -- and a public which seems unconcerned about the tragedy. The drawing also contains a hidden self-portrait, implicating myself in the delusion.
The Von Lintel booth will also present work by Edward Burtynsky, Christiane Feser, Chuck Kelton, Farrah Karapetian, Catherine Howe, Klea McKenna, Mark Sheinkman, Joseph Stashkevetch, and Canan Tolon.
